Manik Sarkar attacked, held up inside party office allegedly by BJP workers.

ormer Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and other senior CPI (M) leaders were allegedly attacked by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Bishalgarh. They were returning after attending a public meeting held in Bishalgarh to mark the November Revolution.

Sarkar, along with former state finance minister Bhanulal Saha and other leaders, was held up for several hours inside the CPI(M) party office after being allegedly attacked by the BJP Yuva Morcha cadres.Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb, after being informed about the attack, intervened in the matter and called up Sarkar to assure safe passage. Later, police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) escorted the former CM out of the party office.CPI(M) leader Narayan Chowdhury’s, who was accompanying Sarkar at the convocation to mark the November Revolution, was also attacked in Bokulnagar and his car was vandalised.
