A truck carrying around 100 Electronic Voting Machines and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail units turned turtle near Bharuch in Gujarat on Thursday.
Three labourers in the truck were injured in the accident, police said.
In the wake of the incident, Patidar leader Hardik Patel tweeted a sarcastic comment.
As per Bharuch district Collector Sandip Sagale, the EVMs and VVPAT units were being transported from Jambusar to a warehouse in Bharuch town.
These units had not been used during the recently-concluded Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017, as they were in reserve (meant to be used in case any other EVM malfunctioned) for Jambusar constituency of Bharuch where polling was held on December 09, he said.
However, this piece of information probably did not matter to Hardik Patel, who went on call it a ‘kaand‘.
