Six people died and 14 were injured after a blast in the gas pipeline of Bhilai Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh, about 30 km away from state capital Raipur.

The people who were injured were taken to a local hospital.

The blast took place in a pipeline at the steel plant in the town of Bhilai.

Police and a rescue team rushed to the spot after the blast.

The plant is operated by the state-run Steel Authority of India Limited.
