{"id":9979,"date":"2019-05-24T13:36:17","date_gmt":"2019-05-24T08:06:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oyspa.com\/blog\/?p=9979"},"modified":"2019-05-24T13:47:29","modified_gmt":"2019-05-24T08:17:29","slug":"biggest-victory-margin-in-2019-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oyspa.com\/blog\/loksabhaelection2019\/biggest-victory-margin-in-2019-elections\/","title":{"rendered":"BJP&#8217;s Uday Pratap Singh wins by 5.53 lakh votes, biggest victory margin in 2019 elections"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>In Madhya Pradesh&#8217;s Hoshangabad constituency,\u00a0Two-time BJP\u00a0MP\u00a0Uday Pratap Singh\u00a0returned to the Lok Sabha by a margin of 5.53 lakh votes.<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oyspa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/uday-pratap-biggest-margin-win.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-9982\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oyspa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/uday-pratap-biggest-margin-win-300x200.jpg?resize=300%2C200&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>C R Patil Thursday came close to surpassing the all-time victory margin in\u00a0Lok Sabha\u00a0polls as he won the\u00a0Navsari\u00a0seat in\u00a0Gujarat\u00a0by garnering 6.89 lakh more votes than his rival &#8212; the highest margin in 2019 polls.<\/p>\n<p>So far, the highest victory margin of 6.96 lakh votes in\u00a0Lok Sabha\u00a0polls belongs to Pritam Munde, who won the by-election to Beed seat in\u00a0Maharashtra\u00a0in October 2014. The by-poll was necessitated after the death of her\u00a0father and\u00a0senior BJP leader\u00a0Gopitnath Munde.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister\u00a0Narendra Modi\u00a0widened his victory margin to 4.79 lakh votes when he defeated his nearest rival of Shalini Yadav of\u00a0Samajwadi Party\u00a0in\u00a0Varanasi\u00a0parliamentary constituency. In 2014, he had defeated\u00a0Arvind Kejeriwal\u00a0by 3.71 lakh votes.<\/p>\n<p>Bharatiya Janata Party\u00a0(BJP)\u00a0President\u00a0Amit Shah\u00a0won his maiden\u00a0Lok Sabha\u00a0election by a huge margin of 5.57 lakh votes from\u00a0Gandhinagar\u00a0in\u00a0Gujarat\u00a0this elections, bettering senior party leader L K Advani&#8217;s margin of 4.83 lakh votes in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>The party got winners with huge margins primarily in Gujarat, Rajasthan,\u00a0Delhi\u00a0and\u00a0Madhya Pradesh\u00a0which it swept defeating nearest\u00a0Congress\u00a0rivals.<\/p>\n<p>In the results declared by the\u00a0Election Commission\u00a0on Thursday,\u00a0Sanjay Bhatia\u00a0won the Karnal constituency in\u00a0Haryana\u00a0by a margin of 6.56 lakh votes, while his party colleague\u00a0Krishan Pal\u00a0won\u00a0Faridabad\u00a0in the same state by 6.38 lakh votes.<\/p>\n<p>With his party sweeping Rajasthan,\u00a0Subhash Chandra Baheria\u00a0of the BJP won the Bhilwara seat in the state by 6.12 lakh votes.<\/p>\n<p>Shankar Lalwani, who contested from\u00a0Indore\u00a0in\u00a0Madhya Pradesh\u00a0on BJP ticket after\u00a0Lok Sabha Speaker\u00a0Sumitra Mahajan\u00a0opted out of the race, defeated his nearest\u00a0Congress\u00a0rival by a margin of 5.47 lakh votes. Mahajan, an eight-time Lok Sabha MP, had in 2014 had won the seat by 4.67 lakh votes.<\/p>\n<p>Contesting for the first time, Ramakant Bhargava, standing in from Vidisha in\u00a0Madhya Pradesh\u00a0after\u00a0External Affairs Minister\u00a0Sushma Swaraj\u00a0opted out, won by 5.03 lakh votes, a lakh vote higher than victory margin in 2014 elections.<\/p>\n<p>In Gujarat&#8217;s Vadodara, BJP Ranjanben Bhatt won by 5.87 lakh votes while in neighbouring\u00a0Surat\u00a0Darshana\u00a0Vikram Jardosh\u00a0won by 5.48 lakh votes.<\/p>\n<p>Of the seven constituencies in the national capital, two BJP candidates emerged victorious by over 5 lakh votes &#8212;\u00a0Hans Raj Hans\u00a0in North West\u00a0Delhi\u00a0(5.53 lakh) and Parvesh Verma in West\u00a0Delhi\u00a0(5.78 lakh).<\/p>\n<p>C P Joshi of BJP won Chittorgarh seat in\u00a0Rajasthan\u00a0by a margin of 5.76 lakh and his colleague\u00a0Diya Kumari\u00a0from\u00a0Jaipur\u00a0royal family won by 5.51 lakh in Rajsamand constituency.\u00a0General\u00a0(Retd) V K Singh also won Ghaziabad seat by over 5 lakh votes.<\/p>\n<p>During 2014\u00a0general\u00a0elections,\u00a0Prime Minister\u00a0Narendra Modi\u00a0won his\u00a0Vadodara\u00a0seat with the highest margin. He defeated his nearest rival by a huge margin of 5,70,128 votes. He, however, resigned from the seat and retained\u00a0Varanasi\u00a0parliamentary constituency where victory margin was 3,71,784.<\/p>\n<p>The second-biggest victory margin was of\u00a0General\u00a0V K Singh (BJP) from Ghaziabad constituency with winning difference of 5,67,260 votes. Former\u00a0army chief\u00a0was followed by C R Patil (BJP), who won\u00a0Navsari\u00a0seat in Gujarat, with a margin of 5,58,116 votes.<\/p>\n<p>Another BJP candidate\u00a0Ramcharan Bohara\u00a0won\u00a0Jaipur\u00a0seat with a vote margin of 5,39,345. Darshana\u00a0Vikram Jardosh\u00a0(BJP) won Surat, Gujarat, seat with a difference of 5,33,190 votes.<\/p>\n<p>The sixth-highest victory margin crown was with CPM candidate\u00a0Sankar Prasad Datta\u00a0of Tripura West. He won the seat with a difference of 5,03,486 votes.\u00a0Jitendra Chaudhury\u00a0followed him by winning Tripura East seat by 4,84,358 votes.<\/p>\n<p>BJP patriarch L K Advani won Gandhinagar, Gujarat, seat with margin of 4,83,121.
