At the launch of ‘Swac<\/strong>hhata<\/strong> Hi<\/strong> Se<\/strong>va<\/strong><\/em> M<\/strong>ovement<\/strong>‘, which aims at fulfilling Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of clean India,\u00a0Ratan Tata, the Chairman of\u00a0Tata Trusts, said that his company has spent over Rs 100 crore in support of the Swachh Bharat Mission, which\u00a0Prime<\/em> Minister\u00a0Narendra Modi\u00a0launched in 2014.
\nPrime Minister\u00a0Modi launched the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva Movement’ on Saturday and appealed to the citizens to dedicate themselves towards achieving the aim of a clean country.
\nLending his support to the programme,\u00a0Ratan Tata\u00a0said that the strength of a country’s foundations is determined by the health of its citizens.
\n“That foundation is the health of our people, which cannot be there without cleanliness and raising the level of sanitation and safe drinking water for the people,” stated Tata, who was joined by megastar\u00a0Amitabh Bachchan\u00a0for the event.
\n“Unfortunately, I don’t have the face or the voice of\u00a0Amitabh Bachchan\u00a0to offer. I can only say that\u00a0Tata Trusts, which have been in existence for 100 years, have spent over the last four years over Rs 100 crore in supporting the Swachh movement and will continue in the coming years, to support technology to be brought that will be necessary to make this a great success,” he added.
\nRatan Tata, who is also the Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, lauded\u00a0Prime MinisterModi’s flagship cleanliness programme, Swachh Bharat Mission.
\nFrom celebrities to Bollywood stars, to industrialists and the youth, people from different walks of life from across the country joined the\u00a0Prime Minister\u00a0in his mission to achieve a clean India.
\nThe\u00a0Prime Minister\u00a0had written personalised letters to nearly 2000 citizens from different walks of life inviting them to join the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva Movement’ and strengthen the Swachh Bharat Mission.
\nIn the letter,\u00a0Prime Minister\u00a0Modi urged former judges, retired government servants, gallantry award winners, medal winners in the Common Wealth and Asian Games, spiritual leaders, film personalities, journalists of leading media outlets, sportspersons, writers, among others to become part of the mass movement.
\nTo endorse the movement in all the states and union territories of the country, the\u00a0Prime Minister\u00a0also wrote letters to Governors, Lieutenant Governors, Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of all states.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
