Delhi’s\u00a0Patiala House Court\u00a0on Tuesday fixed September 17 as the date for deciding whether to take cognizance of\u00a0Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) charge sheet in the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) scam case.
\nED\u00a0had earlier filed a charge sheet against\u00a0Rashtriya Janata Dal\u00a0(RJD) president\u00a0Lalu Prasad Yadav,\u00a0Rabri Devi,\u00a0Tejaswi Yadav\u00a0and others in connection with the 2006\u00a0IRCTChotels tender scam.
\nA\u00a0Delhi\u00a0court had on August 31 granted bail to all accused, including\u00a0Rabri Devi\u00a0and Tejashwi Yadav, in a money laundering case related to the\u00a0IRCTC\u00a0scam. The court, however, did not grant bail to Lalu Yadav, whose bail application was pending as he could not appear before the court.
\nThe former chief minister is currently lodged in Ranchi’s\u00a0Birsa Munda Central Jail\u00a0for his involvement in the multi-crore fodder scam.
\nIn its charge sheet, the\u00a0ED\u00a0had also named\u00a0RJD\u00a0supporters P. C. Gupta and his spouse Sarla Gupta, a company – Lara Projects and ten others as accused in the\u00a0IRCTC\u00a0hotels maintenance case.
\nThe case is in connection with alleged irregularities in allotment of a contract to a private company for the maintenance of\u00a0IRCTC\u00a0hotels located in Ranchi and Puri when Lalu was heading the Railway Ministry from 2004 to 2009.
\nThe prosecution report stated that a conspiracy was hatched in pursuance of which two hotels of Indian railways, were first transferred to the\u00a0IRCTC\u00a0and were later given on lease to Patna-based Sujata hotel Pvt.
