The study&#8217;s authors note that the direction of the association remains to be elucidated.<br \/>\nSenior author Dr. Mary Yannakoulia, said, &#8221; The term\u00a0Mediterranean diet\u00a0is widely used to describe a dietary pattern characterized by the abundance of plant foods: fruits, vegetables, cereals, legumes, nuts, and seeds. Olive oil is the principal source of fat. A\u00a0Mediterranean diet\u00a0also includes moderate amounts of dairy products, low to moderate amounts of fish and poultry, red meat in low amounts, and wine, consumed modestly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oyspa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/16702-large-flower-wallpapers-2880x1800.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3899\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oyspa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/16702-large-flower-wallpapers-2880x1800-300x225.jpg?resize=407%2C305&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"407\" height=\"305\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n&#8220;We need to further explore the mechanisms that link this healthful pattern with better sleep habits, thus promoting quality of life of older people,&#8221; she added.<br \/>\nMediterranean diet\u00a0is a traditional diet from Mediterranean countries, characterized especially by a high consumption of vegetables and olive oil and moderate consumption of protein, and thought to confer health benefits.<br \/>\nThe full findings are present in the journal- Geriatrics and Gerontology International.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sleep quality is positively associated with adherence to a\u00a0healthy diet\u00a0called\u00a0Mediterranean diet.
