{"id":3387,"date":"2018-08-23T14:05:08","date_gmt":"2018-08-23T08:35:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oyspa.com\/blog\/?p=3387"},"modified":"2018-08-23T14:05:08","modified_gmt":"2018-08-23T08:35:08","slug":"n-korea-urges-us-to-sign-end-of-war-declaration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oyspa.com\/blog\/news\/n-korea-urges-us-to-sign-end-of-war-declaration\/","title":{"rendered":"N Korea urges US to sign end-of-war declaration"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"content\">\n<p class=\"time\">\u00a0North Korea\u00a0on Thursday reiterated its demand to the United States to sign a declaration to formally end the over six-decade-old Korean War.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content\">\n<p>North Korea&#8217;s external\u00a0propaganda media\u00a0also urged the\u00a0US\u00a0to lift the sanctions on Pyongyang, adding that improvement of ties and sanctions cannot go together, reported Yonhap News Agency.<br \/>\nA\u00a0North Korean website,\u00a0Uriminzokkiri, said that the end-of-war declaration would help in removing military tension between Washington and Pyongyang and would also lead to improvement in relations and mutual trust between the two countries.<br \/>\n&#8220;In return for its counterpart&#8217;s genuine goodwill and magnanimity, the U.S. has not fulfilled any practical counteraction based on mutual respect and trust,&#8221; the website said.<br \/>\nIt added that signing a declaration to end the 1950-53 Korean War would be the first step towards achieving regional and global peace and security.<br \/>\nAnother\u00a0North Korean propaganda website,\u00a0Meari, accused Washington&#8217;s sanctions to be a deadlock in the relations with Pyongyang.<br \/>\n&#8220;Despite summit pledges by leaders of the\u00a0US\u00a0and South and\u00a0North Korea\u00a0to terminate hostilities, (the) bilateral relationship will never improve as long as the\u00a0US\u00a0sticks to its anti-DPRK (North Korea) sanctions and\u00a0South Korea\u00a0follows them. Sanctions and improvement of relationship with the\u00a0US\u00a0and\u00a0South Korea\u00a0will never be compatible,&#8221; the website said.<br \/>\nLast week,\u00a0North Korea&#8217;s official newspaper,\u00a0The Rodong Sinmun, commented that the\u00a0US\u00a0would play a key role in drafting an end-of-war declaration for the Korean War in order to establish long-lasting peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula.<br \/>\nBoth\u00a0North Korea\u00a0and\u00a0South Korea\u00a0are technically at war, as no peace treaty was signed between the two nations. The Korean War had ended in an armistice agreement.<br \/>\nIn April,\u00a0North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and\u00a0South Korean President Moon Jae-in had agreed to implement a permanent peace treaty
