The Delhi High Court and all district courts will function till 1 pm on Friday. The half-day holiday has been given to allow officials and staff to attend former prime minister Atal\u00a0Bihari Vajpayee’s\u00a0funeral at the Rashtriya\u00a0Smriti Sthal at 4 pm, reported\u00a0.<\/em><\/p>\n

Former Indian diplomat Nirupama Menon\u00a0Rao\u00a0calls him ‘man of deep wisdom and goodness’<\/strong><\/p>\n

Former MEA spokesperson under Atal\u00a0Bihari Vajpayee,\u00a0Nirupama\u00a0Menon Rao\u00a0said he was a man of “unbounded eloquence, perspicacity, and a profound understanding of statecraft, history and human behaviour”.<\/p>\n

She said he had a (King) “Lear-like droop in his shoulders” but “his humour\u00a0and zest for life made him one of the most endearing of human beings I have ever met”.<\/p>\n

Authorities plan to construct memorial for Vajpayee near Raj Ghat<\/strong><\/p>\n

After the last rites of former prime minister Atal\u00a0Bihari Vajpayee are conducted, authorities reportedly plan to construct a memorial for the BJP\u00a0veteran near Raj Ghat. An MCD\u00a0official told\u00a0News18,\u00a0<\/em>that following an inspection of the site, plans for a memorial have been finalised. Apart from Mahatma Gandhi’s samadhi at Raj Ghat, eight former prime ministers, two former presidents and two deputy prime minister have memorials of their own,<\/p>\n

Govt of Telangana<\/strong> has declared state holiday on August 17, 2018<\/strong> as a mark of respect to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. All state govt offices, semi govt offices, public sector undertakings, corporations, boards, educational institutions, etc. will remain closed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
