IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company Ltd. has secured a significant subcontract for the ongoing construction of Bhubaneswar Metro’s Phase 1 project. The subcontract, awarded by Ceigall India, covers a crucial portion of the civil works along the 10.97 km stretch between Trisulia Square and Biju Patnaik Airport, part of the northern end of Line-1. This 302.82 crore contract is vital to the completion of the metro network in the capital city of Odisha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scope of work includes part design and construction of the viaduct under Package BBC-05. The 26 km Line-1 of Bhubaneswar Me six elevated stations, including stops Nandan Vihar, Raghunathpur, feature Square, kanan Zoological Park, Barang Station, and Trisulia Square. The project’s viaduct, one of the longest in the entire line, will serve as the backbone of this metro corridor, which aims to improve connectivity across the city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, IL&FS will be responsible for the ramp construction leading to the Phulapokhari Depot & Workshop, located on a 16-hectare plot. The depot, vital for the operation and maintenance of the metro fleet, is being built under Package BBC-02 by MIA Construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This project follows Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC)’s initial award of the \u20b9898.99 crore contract for Package BBC-05 to Ceigall India in August 2024. The overall timeline for the completion of this civil package is set at 36 months, with IL&FS’s subcontract requiring completion within 18 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the precise details of IL&FS’s subcontract remain undisclosed, it is expected that their responsibilities primarily involve the construction of the viaduct’s piers, while Ceigall India will handle the U-girder casting and launching operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
