In the notice, Siddaramaiah demanded a public apology from the Prime Minister over the allegations made during his public speeches against the Congress government.<\/p>\n

In an unprecedented development, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday sent a six-page legal notice for criminal and civil defamation to the Bharatiya Janata Party, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party president Amit Shah and Karnataka chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa.\u00a0\u00a0Siddaramaiah demanded a public apology from the Prime Minister over corruption allegations made during his public speeches against him and the Congress government.<\/strong><\/div>\n

The notice also mentions the BJP\u2019s ad campaign in the state, which also targeted the Siddaramaiah government. The Karnataka chief minister has threatened to sue the BJP and the PM if the latter fails to apologise. In fact, the Congress has threatened to file Rs 100 crore defamation suit in that case.<\/p>\n

\u00a0In his public rallies in the poll-bound Karnataka, PM Modi has targeted Siddaramaiah and his government, calling it a \u2018Seedha Rupaiya Sarkar\u2019 and \u201910 per cent government\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Earlier today, Siddaramaiah hit back at the BJP and PM Modi, over accusations that he aided, abetted, protected and promoted the cheating of private investors by a firm involved in running a ponzi scheme.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The chief minister tweeted: \u201cIf BJP wants to go with this logic of using a photo to accuse me then it should also accuse PM Modi for his photo with Nirav Modi in Davos.\u201d<\/p>\n

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra had earlier released photographs of Siddaramaiah with Vijay Eswaran, claiming the two met in September 2013. Eswaran is an absconder and is wanted for financial fraud.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
