BJP MLA Lokendra Singh Dies in Car Accident

Lokendra Singh, BJP MLA from Noorpur in Bijnor, was today killed in a road accident in Sitapur. The unfortunate incident shocked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders as Singh died while he was on his way to attend the UP Investors Summit 2018 in Lucknow. Reports say Singh, 45, died when his car collided with a truck in Sitapur. The Noorpur MLA’s Fortuner, which was moving at a high speed, collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction, according to IANS..

Singh was born in district Bijnor of Uttar Pradesh. He had completed MA from Bareilly College, affiliated to MJP Rohilkhand University. Before getting elected to the UP Legislative Assembly, Singh’s profession was agriculture. As per Singh’s Facebook profile, he had previously worked for Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing on Rashtriya Swayam Sangh (RSS).





 

The tragic death of Singh ahead of the UP Investors Summit, which was to be inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi, shocked the prime minister. Modi tweeted, “Anguished by the demise of BJP MLA from Noorpur, Shri Lokendra Singh Ji due to an accident. His service towards society and role in building the BJP in UP will always be remembered. My thoughts are with his family and supporters in this hour of grief.”

The impact of the accident was so intense that the truck driver also died.

Lokendra Singh was 41 years old and is survived by his wife and two sons. Lokendra Singh had won in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in March, last year with a handsome margin.
